OWNER’S MANUAL
Congratulations!
You are now the proud owner of the Crate KX-50 keyboard amplifier. This compact
powerhouse features a 12” Crate Custom woofer and Piezo tweeter housed in a ported
tuned enclosure. Each of its two input jacks has its own level control so you can mix your
keyboard with another instrument, a tape deck or a Hi-Z vocal mic. The amplifier features
three rotary EQ controls and a Master Reverb and Volume control. The Insert/Line Out
jack allows you to connect external effects the amp or to run a signal to a recorder, mix-
ing board or house PA. A Headphone jack allows for private practice sessions.
Like all Crate products, your KX-50 is Musician Made in the U.S.A., using only the
best components. Extensive testing at the hands (and ears) of skilled technicians and
musicians insures you that this amplifier is the absolute best it can be.

4: MIXER LEVEL 2 CONTROL: Adjust the level of the Instrument
2 signal with this control. Low output instruments may need a setting
in the 5-10 range while instruments with “hotter” outputs may need a
setting between 0 and 5. The best setting will cause the peak indi-
cator (#5) to flash occasionally while playing. Too low a setting may

tion. The ring is “LINE OUT,” the tip is “LINE IN” and the sleeve is a

interrupt the signal going to the power amp.
5: PEAK INDICATOR LED: This LED will light when the input lev-
els are high enough to cause undesirable clipping and distortion.
When levels are too high this LED may stay on continuously. If this
happens, reduce the Level controls until the LED flashes occasion-
ally at peak signals.
13: HEADPHONES JACK: For private practice sessions plug a pair
of stereo headphones into this jack. The KX-50’s internal speaker is
disconnected when the headphone jack is used.
6: LOW CONTROL: Adjust the output level of the low tones with
this control. The center position is “flat” (no boost or cut). Turning the
control to the left reduces the output level of the low tones, turning it

The KX-50 is covered with a durable black Tolex material: wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth. Never spray
cleaning agents onto the cabinet. Avoid abrasive cleansers which would damage the finish.
